Boston Red Sox’s James Paxton (35) is finally showing signs of success in his resurgence.

Paxton pitched six innings of one-run, four-hit ball with one walk and eight strikeouts in a no-decision against the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts, on Wednesday.

With a 59-34 record and 3.57 ERA in 143 메이저놀이터 career major league games (786⅔ innings), Paxton was expected to develop into a major league left-handed ace. He even struck out 208 batters in 2018. However, frequent injuries have hampered him, and he has only appeared in six games in the last three years.

Paxton, who signed a one-year, $10 million ($6 million + $4 million) guaranteed contract with Boston last season, did not pitch a single game due to injury. As a result, Boston did not exercise his two-year, $26 million team option and Paxton exercised his $4 million player option.

Paxton, who didn’t have high expectations, has pitched well since returning to the big leagues on May 13 against St. Louis. He is 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA in six games (32 innings) this season.

Paxton threw 98 pitches on the day. He threw a four-seam (35 pitches), knuckleball (33 pitches), cutter (21 pitches), and changeup (9 pitches). He touched 97.8 miles per hour (157.4 km/h) on his fastball and averaged 95.9 miles per hour (154.3 km/h) on his offspeed pitches.
