Will Lee Kang-in (22, Mallorca) evolve into a ‘post-Messi’ and wear a Paris Saint-Germain (PSG.France) shirt?
On Nov. 13 (KST), Spanish outlet Relevo reported that “negotiations between PSG and Mallorca have progressed” and that “the player has already agreed to join PSG”. French outlet L’Equipe also confirmed the move, stating that ‘Lee Kang-in will sign a contract with PSG once he returns from international duty (during the A-match). Specifically, it was reported that he had already completed a medical in Paris and that PSG would pay Mallorca a transfer fee of around 20 million euros ($27.4 billion).
Lee scored six goals and provided six assists in 36 games in Spain’s La Liga in the 2022-2023 season, establishing himself as one of the league’s top midfielders. His creative passing and game coordination away from the point of attack, as well as his complementary performances in the defensive area last season, have caught the eye of major league clubs.
Reports have consistently suggested that Atletico Madrid 안전놀이터 (Spain), as well as some teams in the English Premier League (EPL), have been active in the pursuit of Lee at the end of La Liga, but it appears that PSG have virtually swooped in and won the race for Lee.
According to major media outlets such as Marca, PSG have continued their recent negotiations with Mallorca, led by sporting director Luis Campos. The club reportedly promised Lee a guaranteed starting spot.
In the attacking area, PSG lost Lionel Messi to Inter Miami of the American Major League Soccer (MLS) after his contract expired at the end of last season. Kylian Mbappe has also been consistently linked to Real Madrid (Spain), and Neymar da Silva is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabian league clubs, who are armed with ‘oil money’ and have been on a star player hunt recently.
Lee is immediately being considered as a replacement for Lionel Messi in the center of the field. With his big league credentials, he’s a great asset for PSG’s Asian marketing efforts.
Meanwhile, Lee joined the national team’s “Klinsmann Lake” for two A-match matches against Peru (Busan) on June 16 and El Salvador (Daejeon) on June 20. His future is expected to materialize after these two matches.
