Samsung’s second team was held hitless for nine innings in the Futures League. But they didn’t suffer a no-hitter. They scored four runs. Four runs on four pitches without a single hit.
Samsung’s second team did not get a single hit in nine innings against NC’s second team in the Futures League at Masan Stadium on April 24. However, they did not 안전놀이터 suffer a ‘no-hitter’ as they scored four runs on 10 four-pitch at-bats.
Lee Sung-gyu, Kim Dong-jin, Yang Woo-hyun, Kim Ho-jae, Oh Hyun-seok, Kim Sang-min, Cho Min-seong, Ryu Seung-min, and Lee Byung-heon started for Samsung’s second team.
The Samsung bats struck out 11 times against NC starter Shin Young-woo through five innings. In the first inning, Kim Dong-jin led off with a walk, but a strikeout and infield grounder ended the inning. In the top of the second, Kim Min-sung led off with a walk and stole second, but the next two batters were stranded on consecutive groundouts. In the third, KKK retired six straight batters until Yang Woo-hyun, who led off the fourth.
Samsung had runners on first and second with two walks in the fourth, but the runners were thrown out at the plate. In the fifth, Cho Min-sung led off with a strikeout, but gave up three hits in an inning of strikeout, flyout, and groundout.
He struck out the side in the sixth and was KKKed by NC’s Lee Hyun-woo in the seventh. With one out in the eighth, Seo Ju-won reached on a throwing error by the second baseman and Lee Sung-gyu was retired on a groundout.
With a 10-0 lead, NC pitcher Choi Si Hyuk suddenly faltered with two outs. He walked Kim Dong-jin and hit Yang Woo-hyun with five pitches to load the bases.
With two outs, Samsung scored a run when Kim Ho-jae singled on a four-pitch wild pitch. A run scored without a hit. Oh Hyun-seok singled to center field, scoring a run. Kim Sang-min singled and Kim Jae-sang singled to score four runs.
NC did not leave Choi Si-hyuk in the game any longer, and Song Myung-ki came on as a relief pitcher and struck out Kim Min-ho to end the inning. The NC pitching staff didn’t allow a hit until the ninth inning, when Song Myung-gi finished with a strikeout, grounder, and groundout. Samsung finished 0-for-8 with two walks and four runs scored.
